Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop UKM) is encouraging the People's Business Credit (KUR) program for aggregators, who play a crucial role and are expected to assist micro-enterprises.

"We need financing for aggregators. The value is above Rp500 million, and we hope it can accommodate and become off-takers for micro-enterprises that are part of their supply chain," said Acting Deputy for SMEs at Kemenkop UKM, Temmy Satya Permana, during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to Temmy, the role of aggregators is to connect micro-enterprises with larger and medium-sized businesses.

"I have tasked the Assistant Deputy for Financing and Investment of Small and Medium Enterprises, Ali Manshur, to conduct a study and discuss with stakeholders, including banks, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the government, to assess whether this incentive can be introduced in the next government. Hopefully, by the end of this year, we can formulate it together and push it to the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs so it can be included in the KUR scheme," he said.

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are also part of the MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), as in reality, small and medium enterprises are integrated into the MSME ecosystem.

"We will discuss this further with the technical team, but at the very least, we are pushing for the aggregator KUR," said Temmy.

Aggregators play a role in helping micro-enterprises create a stronger ecosystem and penetrate the market, as micro-enterprises often cannot directly access the market.

"Our spirit is to build an ecosystem where micro-enterprises cannot advance alone; aggregators play a role. So, in the SME sector, our task is also to aggregate micro-enterprises to create a stronger ecosystem and better market penetration," said Temmy.

An example is Du Anyam, which empowers women in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) through palm leaf weaving and has successfully exported to international markets.

"Why is it important to subsidize medium-sized credit? Because if they receive affordable financing, they can provide higher margins to their supply chain, which includes micro-enterprises, without having to suppress the purchase price from their supply chain," said Temmy.

Furthermore, aggregation ensures quality, as aggregators curate and mentor the quality of goods supplied by micro-enterprises.

"Micro-enterprises must follow the standards set by their aggregators. This way, the aggregators deal with the market," added Temmy.
